AMBOX Events is an entity basically involved in event organizing. AMBOX Events is currently based in Davao City. It organizes events related to anime, manga and Japanese pop culture in general. To date Ambox is the caretaker of three international Franchise amely World Cosplay Summit Philippines, Pop Culture Hiroshima Philippines and AnimeS Cosplay World Stars.

OBJECTIVES

AMBOX Events primarily aims to.

(a) Provide a venue of social interaction for anime, manga and Japanese pop culture enthusiasts.
(b) Increase the awareness of the people about anime, manga and Japanese pop culture in general.
(c) Provide a better understanding about cosplay.
(d) Create a social atmosphere that will promote the growth of local anime and manga industry and
(e) Foster friendship between the Philippines and Japan.

COMPANY ROOTS

AMBOX started when members of an anime group in Davao City was approached by SM City Davao to organize a costume convention for their Halloween event. The organizing team was able to organize the First Mindanao Cosplay Summit on October 30, 2008.
The members became independent in order to establish a more stable organizing committee. It is now known as AMBOX Events. It was registered as extension of the same business permit of Hiro’s Place Okonomiyaki, a Japanese restaurant in Davao City.
The registration gave AMBOX a juridical personality which enables it to become a member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Mindanao. Following the success of Mindanao Cosplay Summit, AMBOX is organizing various events related to anime, manga and Japanese pop culture, not only in Davao City but also in other key cities in Mindanao and Visayas as well.

World Cosplay Summit

World Cosplay Summit Philippines or WCSPH is a qualifying round for the international cosplay competition World Cosplay Summit annually held in Nagoya Japan. WCSPH hold the qualifying round per key cities nationwide. It gives Philippine cosplayer a chance to represent the country and compete around 40+ countries in an international cosplay championship stage.

WCS is an international cosplay event for fans of Japanese anime and manga to gather and create a new form of international cultural exchange. The main event, the World Cosplay Championship is the final stage where the top team for each year is determined. based on the quality and construction of the costumes as well as the performance level. It is a dream for many cosplayers around the world to stand on this stage.

WCS Philippines started as an observing country from 2013 to 2014, By 2015 and present, WCS Philippines became a competing country for the World Cosplay Summit.

POP Culture Hiroshima

“Pop Culture Hiroshima” is an “Otaku” Japanese pop culture convention in Hiroshima City. The event features cosplay, a Doujinshi market (Similar to Artist Alley), voice actress guest concert and talk session, an Idol stage, an illustration exhibition, an anime-song Karaoke competition, and more. Pop Culture Hiroshima Philippines hold the qualifying round per key cities nationwide.

EUROPE

AnimeS Cosplay World Stars

AnimeS Cosplay World Star Philippines or ACWS- PH is a qualifying round for the international cosplay competition AnimeS Cosplay World Star held in Bulgaria. This event has been held for 18 years in Bulgaria and attended by over 3,000 con-goers.
The pair who will be chosen will compete in the National Preliminaries which is usually held in different key cities every year. The National champion will then get to represent the Philippines in the first ever ACWS International Competition which will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria next year in June.
